Summary
I've been working as a programmer/analyst and technical lead since 1986.
My particular strengths:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining complex client/server and
online-transaction processing systems, particularly with C/C++, PL/1, and
Java.
- Researching and clarifying requirements provided by business owners into
something that technical teams can implement while ensuring that those
requierements are fully met in finished products.
- Technical documentation of requirements from several perspectives
(business owners, technical teams, operations staff, etc.) and
documentation of techinical systems.
- Issue resolution; I take particular pride in not "passing the buck" just
because a particular problem isn't necessarily something I can fix. If I
can't fix it, I'll find you someone who can, and will continue to follow
and drive issue resolution through completion.
- Training: I've been frequently recognized for being able to explain
complex technical systems to people that don't have the technical
experience to otherwise understand them.
- Telecommuting and remote access: I've been working remotely (in my home
office) since 1996 and understand the need for self-motivation,
self-direction, and communication.
12/2007 - 01/2010: Lead Software Engineer
Supervisor: Greg Channel

A few references & recommendations (via LinkedIn):
“Jay served as the lead engineer for a very large project that I
managed at AOL. The project touched numerous business functions, including
customer care and billing, as well as over 20 critical IT systems. Jay
demonstrated his technical knowledge and analytical skills continuously
throughout the project. He remained detail oriented and thorough, always
respecting business goals and deadlines, despite numerous change requests and
system integration challenges. It would be a pleasure to work with Jay again in
the future!”

Wasserott, Consultant, AOL (worked with Jay at America Online / Time Warner
Inc.)
“Jay has been a member of my team for the past 4 years. In this
time, Jay has been counted on to serve as architectural lead on numerous
projects, has continually increased his J2EE/C/C++ skill set and has been my
most knowledgeable team member on how AOL's complex CRM system interacts with
all our backend components Although located off-site, Jay’s communication
skills are excellent. He’s able to communicate complex information into
common terms non-technical people can understand - clearly, concisely and
effectively. Jay would be a great asset to an organization. He's very
detail-oriented, a self-starter and continually improves his technical skills
each year.”
